Panel discussion at radio [Philippines]
January 10, 2018- SEEDS Asia attended panel discussion with DepEd (Department of Education) Cebu City Division at the PIA (Philippine Information Agency) office in Cebu City through their radio program labeled as “Kapihan sa PIA”. This was to introduce SEEDS Asia as a Non-Profit Organization working closely in partnership with DepEd and talked about the previous and current project of SEEDS Asia on disaster preparedness in the whole region. PIA is the official public arm of the Philippine Government and serves as public relations firm for the Office of the President which disseminates information about government projects and programs across the whole country.
The discussion was open to all journalists, and some asked questions both during the interview portion and others continued interacting after the program was aired. The media wanted to get involved in spreading the knowledge about the unique initiative on disaster preparedness, and they expressed their intention to witness the teacher’s training this April. In the end, DepEd Cebu City Division was pleased that SEEDS Asia is present to assist in educating students using such initiatives as this brought a paradigm shift on their understanding about disaster education and management.
