AXA UNESCO DRR Education in Kesennuma [Japan]

On 17 to 19 September, a training for teachers of the fifth AXA UNESCO Association Disaster Risk Reduction Education program in Kesennuma city in Miyagi prefecture was held. This training of teacher’s program aims to transfer lessons and experiences on the ESD-based recovery and DRR based education gained from the East Great Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in Kesennuma, and to promote practices of DRR education at each participating school. A board director and an advisor of SEEDS Asia cooperated this program as a coordinator and a lecturer respectively. This program included an observation of DRR class on making recovery and DRR map making at Hashikami Elementary School supported by Kesennuma DRR Education Promotion Committee, that had accepted to continue past projects of SEEDS Asia in Kesennuma.
