Pilot Schools Teachers’ Training [Philippines]
April 29-May 4, 2018 – SEEDS Asia with the SDRRM-Instructing Team conducted a 5 and ½ days training for teachers of selected Pilot Schools in Cebu Province. 12 teachers of each Pilot Schools with 120 participants in total participated to gain knowledge to achieve the goal of making the schools of Cebu Province resilient to disaster. The training is an introduction to operations guideline which serves as their guide in creating a tailor-fitted manual for their respective schools so as enhancing their capacity to become trainers to their respective schools and to their respective DepEd Divisions on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. SEEDS Asia invited outside guest speakers from different government agencies, such as DRRMS from Department of Education (DepEd) National, Cebu Province, Lapu-Lapu City and Toledo City DRRM Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, and amongst others, and they gave inputs and shared knowledge to participants. We also appreciate that RegionalDirector of DepEd Region 7, Dr. Juliet Jeruta gave an inspirational message on how participants can save lives for being part of the School DRRM Team.
