Second year of school-based DRR project in Dhaka [Bangladesh]
SEEDS Asia kick-starts the second year of our school-based disaster risk reduction (DRR) project in Dhaka!
On March 9, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) visited our project partner school, Model Academy. A Ward councilor also joined and explained to the Mayor in detail, the rainwater harvesting system and firefighting system that was installed, as well as the importance of DRR activity at school. As DNCC has experienced a number of fire disasters, and fire prevention is a key challenge that the city needs to work on, the Mayor listened closely to explanations on the work being done at the Model Academy.
It was a great opportunity to have the Mayor and show him our activity in DNCC and to discuss with him the broader implications and importance of school and community based DRR initiatives.
The Dhaka project part of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Project scheme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan.
